Today: Tim Tebow joins Marco Rubio in Keys for Hurricane Irma recovery visit

Gov. Rick Scott visited a shelter in Jacksonville with Tim Tebow last week. (Florida governor’s office)

Tim Tebow will join Sen. Marco Rubio in Big Pine Key today to meet with local officials and volunteers not far from where the center of Hurricane Irma barreled into Florida last week.

Rubio and Tebow will also help distribute food and then field questions from reporters.

The former Heisman Trophy-winning University of Florida quarterback and the former Tarkio College defensive back have appeared together in public before.

In 2008, when Rubio was speaker of the Florida House and Tebow was a Gator, Rubio caught two passes (and dropped one) from Tebow on the House floor.

Tebow, who recently wrapped up a minor league baseball season with the St. Lucie Mets, joined Florida Gov. Rick Scott last week in a visit to a shelter in Jacksonville.
