2020 preview? Trump critic John Kasich coming to Forum Club of the Palm Beaches

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the former Republican presidential candidate who never endorsed Donald Trump and hasn’t shut the door on the possibility of challenging him in a 2020 primary, is coming to the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches later this month to speak and sign copies of his new book.

Kasich will speak May 26 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. Tickets are $42 for members, $52 for their guests and $77 for the general public.

An 18-year-old Kasich met Richard Nixon the same week that Elvis Presley did in December 1970.

Kasich has authored a book, called Two Paths: America Divided or United, to be released Tuesday that gives his account of the 2016 race and his decision not to endorse Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“In an election cycle filled with conduct unbecoming a presidential candidate, I’m afraid his conduct was the most unbecoming of all. Alas, Donald Trump is our duly elected president,” Kasich writes, according to a pre-publication preview by The Cincinnati Enquirer. Kasich then adds: “We must now stand with him and look forward with optimism to a bright American future.”

The book is mum on Kasich’s 2020 plans, the Enquirer says.

Kasich’s term as Ohio governor ends in January 2019. He recently told CNN it’s “very unlikely that I will run for public office,” but when pressed by Anderson Cooper, added, “If I see something I need to do to help my country, that I really believe that I have to do, then I would think I would probably do it.”
