As Bill O’Reilly exits Fox, Palm Beach County’s JFK assassination link recalled

There’s a Palm Beach County connection to everything.

O’Reilly’s 2012 book on the Kennedy assassination.

As Bill O’Reilly makes his negotiated exit from Fox News, Palm Beach Post columnist Frank Cerabino recalls O’Reilly’s disputed claim that he was an ear-witness to the 1977 death in Manalapan of George de Mohrenschildt, a key figure in many JFK assassination conspiracy theories.

De Mohrenschildt was a Russian émigré who knew Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas. His 1977 death — ruled a suicide by shotgun — came hours after an investigator from the House Select Committee on Assassinations, Gaeton Fonzi, left his business card at the mansion on South Ocean Boulevard in Manalapan where de Mohrenschildt was visiting.

O’Reilly places himself at the door of the Manalapan house at the time of the fatal shotgun blast. Others dispute that account, Cerabino notes.

De Mohrenschildt figured prominently in a 2013 discussion in West Palm Beach with author Gerald Posner, a leading modern proponent of the Oswald-acted-alone explanation for the 1963 assassination.
