President Donald Trump, taking heat from the left and right for his latest remarks about Russian President Vladimir Putin, is pushing back on Twitter this morning.
Making his case on Twitter is a familiar tactic for part-time Palm Beach resident Trump, who logged his 100th tweet as president on Sunday.
When Bill O’Reilly of Fox News called Putin a “killer,” Trump responded the U.S. wasn’t in a position to cast stones.
“There are a lot of killers,” Trump replied. “We’ve got a lot of killers. What, do you think our country is so innocent?”
The comment has rekindled longstanding criticism of Trump as soft on Putin and Russia. Trump this morning didn’t address the moral equivalency concerns, but maintained he has no ties to Putin. Trump also threw former President Barack Obama into the conversation.
“I don’t know Putin, have no deals in Russia, and the haters are going crazy – yet Obama can make a deal with Iran, #1 in terror, no problem!,” Trump tweeted.
