Florida Gov. Rick Scott is in a celebratory mood as part-time Palm Beach resident Donald Trump prepares to take the oath as America’s 45th president.

 

Scott is marking Trump’s inauguration by hosting a “Florida Sunshine Ball” in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night and an inaugural parade-watching party at a restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday. Florida First Lady Ann Scott is hosting a Thursday tea on Capitol Hill.

 

In an exclusive interview with The Palm Beach Post, Scott discusses his cool relationship with Democratic President Barack Obama and his hopes for better relations with Trump, “my friend of 20 years.”

 

ā€œIā€™m going to celebrate a new opportunity for Florida,ā€ Scott says.
