NEW YORK — President-elect Donald Trump is heatedly disputing a suggestion that Russia has compromising information about him as he prepares to hold his first news conference since July.

The Palm Beach Post will be reporting from Trump Tower in Manhattan on part-time Palm Beach resident Trump’s 11 a.m. news conference. Follow @gbennettpost on Twitter and PostOnPolitics.com and MyPalmBeachPost.com for coverage.

CNN reported Tuesday that, when Trump was briefed by the nation’s top intelligence officials last week, they gave him a two-page synopsis of claims that Russian operatives believe they have damaging personal and financial information about Trump.

“FAKE NEWS – A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!” Trump told his Twitter followers at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday.

CNN reported that the two-page synopsis was a distillation of 35 pages of memos. CNN said it was “not reporting on details of the memos, as it has not independently corroborated the specific allegations.”

Buzzfeed.com noted that the 35 pages were unverified, but published them Monday night “so that Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the US government.”

Trump at 9 p.m. tweeted a link to an article accusing Buzzfeed of “abandon(ing) all journalistic ethics” in publishing the documents.
