It’s official: Part-Time Palm Beacher Donald Trump will spend the Christmas break at his Mar-a-Lago Club. The Trump transition team confirmed the visit Friday morning in a daily briefing with the press.
Spokesman Jason Miller said Trump will spend Friday night at Palm Beach. He has an event Friday night in Orlando as part of his USA Thank You Tour, which has taken him through several states that proved pivotal to his Electoral College win. And he holds a rally Saturday afternoon in Mobile, Ala.
Trump “expects to be in Palm Beach for most of, if not all of, next week,” Miller said. He said Trump will be “taking meetings” at the club and spending the holidays there with his family.
Late Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a temporary flight restriction for the airspace over Mar-a-Lago, to run from Friday night through the night of Jan. 2. It allows flights into and out of Palm Beach International Airport to fly over the club, but bans smaller planes without FAA approval.
The president-elect has spent the holidays at his Palm Beach home for 20 years.
The Coast Guard issued an advisory Thursday for a security zone in effect from 2 p.m. Friday through the night of Jan. 3 for the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal waters near the club. The Coast Guard issued a similar advisory in November when Trump spent Thanksgiving in Palm Beach.
