COUNTDOWN TO INAUGURATION DAY (Jan. 20, 2017): 35 DAYS

LATEST NEWS

President-elect Trump will start his annual Christmas vacation in Palm Beach tonight — sort of. Trump will fly here after the Thank You Tour rally in Orlando this evening. He will then travel to Alabama on Saturday for a Thank You Tour event in Mobile.

He will then return to Mar-a-Lago on Saturday and spend the Christmas holiday here. That means Trump will be here on Monday, Dec. 19, when the 538 members of the Electoral College cast votes to formally elect the 45th President of the United States.

President-elect Trump will nominate Congressman Ryan Zinke of Montana to serve as Interior Secretary. Transition 2017 tweeted that Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg and Dr. Monica Crowley will join National Security Council team.

As electors prepare to gather in state capitols for Monday’s decisive vote, Trump brought fresh controversy to the debate over Russia and election-influencing hacking by criticizing the White House for waiting until after the election to raise the issue. But others, including the director national intelligence, had raised the issue as far back as early fall..

With Trump’s Cabinet almost complete, just the Agriculture and Interior posts lack nominees, it’s clear diversity is not a major consideration.
