President-elect Donald Trump will travel to his part-time home in Palm Beach on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning and spend Thanksgiving there, a spokesman confirmed today.
The Palm Beach Post reported Sunday that the Federal Aviation Administration had imposed major flight restrictions in the airspace around Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club from Tuesday through Friday.
Trump’s plans in Palm Beach include “hopefully eating some turkey,” spokesman Jason Miller said on a conference call with reporters. “As far as meetings and such, we haven’t released a full schedule.”
Trump has been conducting meetings with advisers and potential hires for his administration in New York and, over the weekend, at a club he owns in Bedminster, N.J. Thanksgiving should provide “a brief break in the action,” Miller said. But, he added, “There’s never too long of a break.”
Trump’s meetings today include U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, who stepped down from a Democratic National Committee leadership post to support Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic nomination fight. Others meeting with Trump today include former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallon, former Texas Gov. and presidential candidate Rick Perry and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
