Brian Mast and GOP highlight his Army service in two new TV ads

While Democrat Randy Perkins’ new TV ads depict Republican Brian Mast as “dangerously extreme,”  Mast paints a different picture in a new TV ad he’s releasing today in Palm Beach-Treasure Coast congressional District 18.

“As a soldier in Afghanistan, I fought for every single one of you. I never cared about race, color or if you were a Democrat or Republican and that’s the same way I’ll fight for you in Congress,” says Mast in the new 30-second spot.

Mast was an Army bomb specialist who lost his legs in an IED blast, and his latest ad shows his prosthetic limbs as he stands in front of a war memorial. The ad ends with Mast declaring that “America will always be worth everything I have.”

The National Republican Congressional Committee is also running a new ad that touts Mast’s “service over self on the battlefield and here at home.”

The NRCC ad is running the positive Mast spot at the same time it’s airing an attack ad against Perkins, accusing him of profiting from human misery as head of disaster-relief giant Ashbritt Inc. Perkins is threatening to sue over the ad’s characterization of his dealings with the Broward County school district.
