Donald Trump begins Florida TV ads today; offices coming soon, campaign says

BOCA RATON — Donald Trump‘s campaign will begin airing TV ads today in Florida and other states, his top Florida adviser said Thursday.

Senior adviser Karen Giorno said the Trump campaign will open 25 offices across Florida over the next two weeks and will deploy three RVs as “mobile field offices” in the Sunshine State. There will be 200 field staff in Florida, Giorno said.

The Trump ad buy will include $1.44 million in Florida, with $206,000 aimed at the West Palm Beach market, according to NBC News.

Trump won the Republican nomination with little organization or personnel or TV advertising. But many Republicans have shaken their heads at his lack of a traditional structure or TV campaign for the general election against Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump this week hired Stephen Bannon of conservative Breitbart.com as campaign CEO and pollster Kellyanne Conway as campaign manager in an apparent diminution of the role of campaign chairman Paul Manafort. But Giorno rejected the idea that the moves constituted a “shake-up” of the Trump campaign.

“I wouldn’t call it a shake-up at all. It really is an expansion,” Giorno said while attending the Palm Beach County GOP’s Lobsterfest fundraiser.

The Trump campaign in late June said it would expand its Florida operations in July.

“I would say that we were keeping our powder dry,” Giorno said of the delay. “I think we’re right where we need to be.”
